Roundworms and hookworms are intestinal parasites that your pet may have contracted by being around other infected animals, nursing from an infected mother, or coming into contact with feces that contain parasite eggs or larvae. Using a monthly preventative like Heartgard Plus prevents against roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms.

Similar to heartworms, roundworms and hookworms do not have a preference of dog or cat breeds they infect, which means all pets are at risk for contracting these parasites. Although some pets may have intestinal parasites and not display any visible signs of an infection, the common symptoms include:

  • Weight loss
  • Diarrhea
  • Poor grooming
  • Dry coat
  • Itching and other skin irritations
  • Rubbing its rear end on the ground (scooting)

If you think your pet may have roundworms or hookworms, you should talk to your veterinarian to determine a diagnosis. Your vet may prescribe Heartgard Plus to control intestinal parasites, which you can purchase through PetMeds.com.

To prevent roundworms and hookworms, speak with your veterinarian about giving your pet Heartgard Plus or another type of dewormer to help maintain your pet's health.

We'll contact your Vet to verify.
